Default 2019 RDX "Walk Away Locking/Unlocking"

Recently, I've noticed that my walk away auto lock is not working. I've checked the system screen to insure that the walk away locking is turned on. I've replaced the CR2032 battery in both FOBs all to no avail. I have the system set to flash...it doesn't. When I walk up to the car and touch the inside of the door handle, there is no "beep" and click of the unlocking mechanism. The buttons on the remote work fine. Ideas anyone? Thanks!

A common thing that causes erratic behavior of the vehicle electronics is a weak 12V battery. So if yours is original, meaning it could be coming up on being 5 to 6 years old, consider getting it tested. Make sure the battery terminals are clean. If you have a charger, charge the battery overnight and see if the behavior significantly changes, even if for a day or two.

Thanks. I bought a new Interstate battery about six months ago. I had the engine oil changed about 2 months ago and the dealer always does a battery test. It is in the very good range. I've replaced the battery in #1 FOB about a week or so ago when I noted that the doors didn't lock or unlock. I tried the #2 FOB and get the same "no go" on the locks. I've double checked the "walk away" lock and it is set to lock and flash the lights.

1st question is do you get any beeps as you walk away from the car?

Beyond that it is important you understand the logic behind the system. The auto lock system works when the fob is outside a range of about 5 to 8 feet. That is the number most seen, although there are references that say 20 feet. All doors, hatch and hood are closed while the sensor is within range of the car. This can mean that if you get out of the car and move outside that 5 to 8 foot zone while your wife is slow getting out, the system may not work properly. This happens to me all the time! Make sure that when you leave the car, all fobs have to be removed. If the wife leaves a fob in her purse in the trunk, the car won't lock.

Try a pseudo reset of the system. Turn OFF the auto lock feature in the normal manner and use the cr for several start/stop cycles; then go back in a re-enable the auto-lock feature. Sometimes this will get it working correctly.

Talk about EGG ON MY FACE! I always have 3 FOBs. I unlocked the glove box and found that my 3rd FOB had slipped out of its Faraday pouch. The #1 FOB is kept with a blank key insert since if I have to valet park (I don't like to but sometimes...) the valet can't open the glove box to see what's in there and other keys are on the ring. I have a regular door key in my wallet to unlock the door and then unlock the glove box should my #1 FOB get lost. The #2 FOB has the key insert that came with it and that's the one I leave when I take the car to the dealer. Of course, I don't keep anything of value in the glove box except a spare FOB and gate opener. So, when I was cleaning the car the other day, I must have bumped the Faraday pouch and the #3 FOB slid out part way. The car was DOING WHAT IT WAS DESIGNED TO DO!
