Hi All,

Need a little help. Got a check engine light code of P1362. It's pointing to faulty/no signal Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor or Top Dead Center (TDC) sensor.

I saw two mechanics. One was thinking its the distributor and the other is thinking the Camshaft sensor. Which one do you think? Are they ways to actually test the distributor?

I hate to go buy a distributor, install it, find out that the distributor is OK and can't return the new distributor.

Thanks guys!

ok first what is and what year is this vehicle.

and both of your techs are right IMO

the distrubiter houses the cam position sensor

and honda/acuras are well known to eat distributors
its a 300 BUCK BET but im betting on the dist being bad

Dave at my shop may have a used for you. 1800-767-8640 (Scott,s )
If not i know we can get New cheeper than the dealer and our new ones are complete with cap and rotor. (please dont take a reman) i have has such bad luck with those...like buying 3-4 befor 1 actually works. then it only works for a month or 2...the new ones come with a warranty (ours has a 1 year)

Thanks!

99 Integra LS. . DOHC engine

By the way, how do you install the distributor correctly? Some said I need to reset the timing. Another person said I just turn the rotor in the good distributor to match up with the bad distributor.

Any help will be appreciated!

Thanks again!

Bump. When installing a distributor, better make sure you also install the distributor clamp properly. Or you would be having a hard time fixing the cap and the rotor as well.
