Default vibration at 40mph

My 05 TL vibrates when it drives a steady 40mph. If I give it more gas (press pedal hader) it goes away. car has 74,000. never abused or crashed. Anyone have any sugestions? Asked dealer and there answer was to change transmission. They couldnt tell me what was wrong.

Exclamation Hi Member

!st things to be checked before you spend any $$$$$ is to have the rims, tires and the wheel bearings checked on by someone you know who isn't a idiot who says transmission right away...

Default Agree with Ang.....

Take the car to a shop that has the Hunter GSP9700 road force balancing machine. They can check the balance of the wheel and tire and also verify that you don't have a bent wheel. Then move on from there to check wheel bearings, CV joints, and suspension bits.

You can find a Hunter GSP9700-equipped shop here:

Default Piggy backing from "vibration at 40mph"

02 TL-S, never damaged, similar problem. However, my vibration starts around 40 - 42 and goes away around 50. It is barely noticeable under light acceleration and very noticeable under a load (like accelerating up a grade).

I do have aftermarket wheels and I also have the factory set. I am going to put the stock wheels on to rule that out. Based on the fact that it is more pronounced under a load, I am thinking it is not a balance issue. In fact, if I coast down a grade and gain speed through that range (40 to 50) the issue is non-existent.

Thoughts? Suggestions?
