Default Need some advice on a 2008 TL

I have looked at a 2008 TL and the car is in great condition from every aspect. The problem is it has 167,000 miles which i feel like is a lot for 4 years. Should i buy it? Does than many miles really matter for this beast? What are the problems i could face with it? I have heard that i might need to change the water pump and the timing belt, do you guys agree with it?

Any sort of help will be highly appreciated and please feel free to tell me about any other problems i might face with this many miles.
Thank you
Nick

The good news is that with that many miles on the car, they have to be highway miles which are the easiest on the car. The bad news is that is a lot of miles in what might be more like a 5 year old car (2013's will come out in the next couple of months). The car should easily have another 100+K miles in it - easy!

With a car getting run that much, you need to make sure that all the routine maintenance has been done. The timing belt for sure should have been replaced, oil changes on schedule, plugs too, maybe the water pump, and if it is an automatic transmission, it should have had a fluid flush and filter change. Same with the brakes (fluid flush recently).

Some things you might be prepared to experience that you wouldn't have with a lower mileage car would be things wearing out like wheel bearings, suspension linkages, shocks, nuisance things like bulbs burning out, and maybe a bit of extra wear and tear on the seats and interior.

If it checks out and the price was commensurate with the mileage, don't see why not. I would definitely get a Pre Purchase Inspection done by an experienced mechanic.

hello dear,
Same time is not the year of the car, i now a friend he buy it 2010 mercedes class whit 189.000 miles, yes a lot, but the car was from vip limo service.
And after 2 months the car broke, new transmission for this car is $8,750 Only from dealer. the guy was broke ..... Dont buy a car looking on the year, Yes the year is important, buy we need to focus on the Miles, and pay $99. to any new car dealer for a full inspection on the car. Don't go to any private shop or used car dealer. Go to a new car dealer for an inspection. You can buy a car 10 years old but whit good miles can last long then 2010 car
Thank you
