Default D5 Light Replacement Help

2002 Type S

My D5 indicator light burned out on my gauge assembly. The service manual says to replace the light:

1. Remove gauge assembly (Done)
2. Disassemble gauge assembly (Not so easy)
3. Replace bulb

I've pulled the lens and gauge divider off of the front but can't get the back (white) portion to separate. Do I need to remove all of the bulbs? How do you deal with the ribbon wire harness on the back? Any help would be appreciated. See attached photos.

Thanks!
