04 TL Ext Warranty needed post 100k
Hi,
I cant decide if I really need a warranty after my certified bumper to bumper expires. Currently have 83k on the car and it has been a wonderful car. Unlike my past Audi/Saabs I have complete confidence in this car. It is however, high-tech and am concerned? Any thoughts if its worth paying $1,000 or so?

IMHO an extended warranty is just an insurance policy. You need to fully understand what the warranty would cover, and especially what it does NOT cover, what the deductables are, how long it goes, as well as the upfront cost, and balance that against your ability to pay for repairs out of pocket.
As a point of reference, I have a '96 3.2 TL and a 2002 TL. The 2002 has only had routine service - no repairs needed.
The '96 has 93K miles and has had the following problems/work done it:
- replace defective alarm actuator in driver's door
- replace front and rear brakes & bleed brake fluid (do these myself)
- routine oil and filter changes (do these myself)
- replaced battery (twice - did this myself)
- replaced timing belt at 90K miles (preventative maint.)
- currently an O2 sensor is bad and needs to be replaced (I will do this myself)
- currently having starter problem (still diagnosing and will fix myself)
- coolant leak (still diagnosing and will fix myself)
The last two items cropped up in the past couple of weeks. And that's it for almost 12 years of ownership. IMHO a TL should be able to go to 250K miles, however I do not know how to project how much maintenance/repair would be needed to achieve that.

Warranties Gone Wild and
they helped me when I was searching for my aftermarket warranty...
