HELP

Has anyone else experienced a shutter - rear shimmy - hard to explain. I experience it on rough roads - rear seems to want to "kick out". Also experience on icy snow covered roads - alway compensating steering wheel to keep straight.

Its an 05 RL with 45k - dealer says suspension is solid. Tires are all seasons with 75% tread. Any input will be apreciated

ok you have a hard bump shimmy...and solid suspension.

then you have a dealer that isnt taking the time to find this problem.

you have a vehicle control issue. TOP priority in my book.

but.

if you have a second set of tire, then get those put on and see if it stops. if you dont then get them rotated and see if you "shimmy/kickout" moves to the front.

i suspect you have a shock with a worn spot in the center of its travel.

its not leaking and wont look like a bad shock.

if it kicks to the passenger side i would suspect the right rear shock.

if driver side i would look into the left shock.

i suspect you have a dealer that isnt doing there job.

Great advice - thanks for taking the time.

I thought it was a shock/strut issue also but dealer saw no sign of leakage and dismissed as a cause of problem. I will approach them again.
