Default Navigation Updates via USB

I have downloaded the latest navigation update on a USB drive, how do I upload it to the navigation system? I have been told that the car must remain on during the upload which will take an hour or more and that I shouldn't drive the car during the upload. I don't want to let the car idle for an hour or more, but if I turn the car off the upload will stop and could cause damage. What is the better way to upload from a USB?

The car does NOT need to be "running." Leave it in the acc position.

I had my car running, started usb upload, took 3 hour road trip and about an hour into the trip it said "Map Upload Complete" It did not display the update until I turned car off, let sit for 15 min or more then restarted it and it now shows 2022 maps when I check.

While in ACC mode, I put the USB in the console port and the "update started" window popped up. Does the USB thumb drive have to be flashing for the upload to start?

2010 RDX - All of a sudden my navigation screen went black. Shortly before I had my battery changed, but don't think that is connected. The fuses have been checked they are all good. The original navigation dvd is still being used. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas? Thanks.
