I'm here for a neighbor who doesn't have a computer. I wrench on my cars and he's asking me for help with an '88 Legend. Here's the issue:

It will start and run only if the Check Engine Light is on. If it is not on, he has to jump start it, the light comes on, and it runs fine. The battery appears to be good. He says he tried a new cam sensor and that didn't work.

It's flashing an error code: 4 blinks, pause, 4 blinks, pause, 4 blinks (3 sets of 4)

If I've done my homework right, this appears to be a Crank Sensor (CKP) code in the computer 3 times. Am I correct? Would that cause the problem I've outlined? Edited by: CAM2
