88 Legend high idle won't pass smog @ idle
Well, need to smog car, and idle won't pass. One mechanic quoted me a $300 part ( I believe that he quoted me the idle control motor for an 87 Legend ) and another a $100 part. I think Acura's name for the part is an EACV ( Elec. Air Control Valve). I replaced the part from a well known Honda/Acura only dismantler, and the idle is still high ( about 1500 RPM). They charged me $45 for the part. I checked the resistance, and it was in spec. I haven't checked continuity since my multimeter was at home. The ECU had a "14 blinks code" meaning a rich idle, but the idle adjuster screw is all the way maxed out clockwise.
After I installed the salvaged EACV, the blink code went away, and the idle went high, and dropped to where it's supposed to be, and then jumped back up to 1500 RPM in Neutral. It also does have 2 leaking injectors, but I don't think that's causing the problem. Should I just bite the bullet and get the EACV from a dealership? or do I have a bigger can of worms? Please, any and all help is appreciated as I am not a seasoned mechanic when it comes to Acura. Thanks
