Default '89 Auto trans in an '87

Hi all,
I have an '87 Integra with an automatic, and recently it began shifting only when it wanted to. Took it to a shop, was told it was definitely an internal problem, and needed to be rebuilt or replaced, and I found a used trans out of an '89. I know they are slightly different transmissions, but they use the same mounts, same starter, same cv shafts...etc. The only difference I can find is that they use different torque converters. My question is, when using the '89 trans with the '87 engine, do I use the '89 torque converter, or the '87? The '89 trans didn't come with a t.c., so I can't actually physically compare them, the only reason I know they're different is from looking on Napa's website and seeing one part # for '86/'87 and a different part # for '88/'89. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
