Are you kidding me?

Today I was on my way to school (University of Memphis), just stopped
at a red light, waiting for it to change. When it did, traffic started
to move, but someone a couple cars up made a late decision to get into
the left turn lane, which slowed down traffic to a halt once more.
Right before stopping completely I looked in my rear-view mirror, and I
KNEW what was coming. I got that horrible feeling in the pit of my
stomache that something was about to happen which I had no control
over.. And I was right.
Bam.
Rear-ended. That fast.
I was in shock. After pulling over, I got out and immediately called
my dad. I was literally shaking with anger, and was on the verge of
tears because my car had gone from being spotless to dented up- all
with the "new-car" paper license plate thingy still on it.
The guy who rammed me was like "I don't think we need to call the
police." I told him we CERTAINLY DID. He got a little attitude making
comments such as "this makes the process longer than it needs to be"
and "unbeleivable."
Yea, it IS unbeleivable that YOU rammed ME and are complaining about
doing things how they're supposed to be done. I can't explain how
furious I was. Just thinking the processof everything could have been
"shorter." I'd probably feel that way too if I was driving a 1999
Explorer with headlights that had to be taped in.
Oh well, whats done is done. I'm just glad Acura has amazing
warranties, or this would be hell to fix. Him ACTUALLY HAVING
INSURANCE helped also.
It was just a "fender bender" as he called it, but seeing the car like
this just makes me not even wanna drive it until its repaired. I feel
amazingly embarassed that my car is already like this after ony 2 days
of owning it. I feel like I've let my dad down, as well as my best
friend, who LOVES this car.
It sickens me SO MUCH.
And one last thing. The only reason I was in the same lane as this guy
is because a woman was going 5-under in morning rush-hour traffic.
Guess what she was driving.. A LEXUS IS 350. Now I'm all for obeying
the law, but don't buy one of the nicest sports cars on the streets
today and drive UNDER the speed limit. Makes no sense.
Anyways.. Here are pics of the damage:

Since this is in the TECH forum, I'll ask this: Can anyone guesstimate how long it will take to repair?

I sympathize for you. But at least he had insurance. A buddy of mine's wife and daughter just got re-ended. Guy was in a ford truck. Going 50 and drunk as a skunk. My buddiescar has no rear end and totaled. The guy in the truck had no insurance and to boot my friends insurance company is giving a hard time. Both his daughter are ok but have to go to therapy for 6 months.
Anyway, they are lucky to be alive. You are lucky to be alive. The car can get fixed and it will. Good you stuck to your position and called the police. Hope everything works out for you.
