Default Vehicle issue when changing gears (MDX)

I have a 2014 Acura MDX SH-AWD, and I've noticed an odd issue lately. While slowing down, when the speedometer hits the 40km/h (I'm in Canada) mark, it feels like the computer is down shifting gears, but doing it too early because when it hits that speed, the vehicle will feel like the break has just been hit, and we all get jolted forward. The RPM gauge at the time also jumps from 1k to 1.5k.

I used to have a Mazda3, and when I used to use the tiptronic transmission, down shifting while the vehicle was going too quickly created the exact same feeling (like someone just hit the breaks, and we jolt forward), but this is happening on the MDX without my intervention.

I tested in Comfort, Normal and Sport mode, and it happens in all three. I am wondering if this is the transmission failing, or something else.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
