Speedometer Gone CrAzY

Speedometer Gone CrAzY
'87 Acura Integra, 5-dr. hatchback, 1.6L engine, automatic trans.
My speedometer has lost its mind! It registers, like, 100 or 120 when I'm going 45 or 50. On the highway it just goes all the way around and pegs at 130 or whatever the max is.
It's intermittent, too, of course -- usually it's okay first thing in the morning, especially if it's chilly (it seems). But inevitably I glance down and I'm doing 80 in a 35 zone. <Chuckle>
The speedo cable has been replaced, so I'm wondering what electronics may have a problem. Sensors, that sort of thing.
Another thing I remember -- at the front of the engine bay, mounted sort of near the top of the motor, there are a couple of wire connectors ... one of the connectors is green and goes to the O2 sensor (1 wire) and another connector is plain nylon/white and has 2 wires, I think. For quite a while if I 'wiggled' these around it seemed to restore normal operation for a while. I'd love to know what that 2nd connector is for ... need a better book than the Chilton.
Any ideas? It's driving me nutz. But a good lesson learned -- my TomTom gives me the vehicle speed, and it's dead on. Amazing.
Thanks much,
Chris
