I am planning to buy an used Cl 2.3, Auto w/80K mi on it. I went & checked it out, the check engine light was on - owner said today is the first day it has lit up so she will check with the dealer. I noticed that the brakes [drums on the outside] are rusted because - she garaged it for 2 years. Interiors are v.good. Now my question is if the check engine light is fixed & made sure a good mechanic checks the car out, in the long run would it be worth buying it? What else I need to check befre I go ahead with it?

If maintained the vehicle is capable of 300k+ miles

 

oh and its big maintence is on the horizon.

at 105k miles you need timing belt, valve adjust, spark plugs, possiable water pump, filters, lots of fluids changed. AKA a 600-800 dollar repair.
