My elderly Mom's 99 3.2L TL supposedly needs a new instrument cluster. The trio of gauges seem to all be dead. The speedometer doesn't work, nor does the temp or fuel gauges.

She lives in another state and her friend took it to an Acura dealer who said the same thing. When I was visiting Mom the other day I took a quick look and just verified that it was the cluster, and not something else (simple). I reviewed the Acura service/work order.

I am wondering - is this something that I could replace myself? I know I need t opurchase it directly from a dealer. I'd prefer to not have the dealer install it (those crooks!), alternatively I was thinking to buy the part from them and have a service station replace it (thinking that this would be cheaper...).

Thoughts on this?

Thanks,

Walter
