I'm currently working a deal on a 08 TL which will be my first venture into the Acura world. I was deciding between a Passat, Cadillac and a Maxima and it just seemed like the TL was the best deal. What do I have to look forward to or what should I look out for?

 

There should not be any problems with a 4-5 year old TL, but it is always a good idea to get a pre-purchase inspection by a good mechanic (or dealer). Check the usual things like the tires and battery. Make sure that routine maintenance has been performed - including a brake fluid flush. The weak point of these cars is the tranny. If the car has high mileage, see that tranny service has been done or get it done before you close the deal. Also if it is high mileage, check that the timing belt has been replaced.

 

It's right at 58K and one of the things I have on my list for them is to have the 60K service done before I pickup. I know I saw an invoice of the things they have done since the car was traded in. I remember seeing a window motor being replaced, battery, tires and I want to say some brake work.
