i cut 3 coils off mu 88 legend and found the springs to be loose on the shock. (thats very bad) ut even so it was still alighnable
i later built some shims and brought it back up about a inch. loose springs are dangerous to low sucks on speed bumps.

i would cut 1 coil off and see how it feels and rides if you like it but want a little lower then star cutting off 1/2 at a time. (make sure to cut them with A cut off wheel or a saw of some type). heat cuttung can distemper your springs back to a mild steel, which is explosive when flexed.

Cutting is really not the way to go...it does weaken the springs and gives you a very rough ride..

rough ride will happen reguardless.

if you cut a spring you will shorten its lenght and make it stiffer.

if you buy a spring that is lowered most of them are stiffer because a soft LOW spring will bottom and damage the vehicle where a stiff 1 may help prevent that.

if you lowering your vehicle expect as stiffer ride.

cut springs are not reversable. lowering springs can be replaced with your old springs, if you change your mind.

as far as weakining. YES IF THERE CUT WITH HEAT no if cut with a blade. unless the blade is dull and creats heat. a heated spring will break and possiably kill someone. (EXPLODE)
