2000 RL idling/ignition problem
 

hi. i have a 2000 RL with 395k miles, the motor has about 300k, with the original transmission.

I have an intermittent problem where the TCS light comes on, the check engine light starts flashing and the car starts shaking and dieseling and struggles to idle. my guess is that only one cylinder bank is actually firing. it will drive, but with limited power and sometimes it will snap back to normal for a few seconds (check engine light will remain on however) and then go back to making the whole car shake while it struggles to drive.

when this starts to happen i can usually turn the car off and back on and it will go away, however today i turned it on and off a few times and it still wouldnt run right.

I have tried replacing the ignition control module twice with used ones, however this did not resolve my issue.

Any thoughts would be great.
