Default 2021 Acura RDX Sunroof

Hello everyone,

I had my sunroof explode for no reason while traveling home yesterday. I was doing 70 mph when this occurred which as you can imagine really scratched the paint on top of the vehicle. Acura acknowledged that this is a known issue and will not fix this even thought it is still under warranty.

Anybody else experience this?

Default 2024 RDX Sunroof Explodes

While existing a highway at approximately 55/60 mph, suddenly the front sunroof glass shatters/explodes.

After telling me another 2024 RDX had the exact same issue a month before and since Acura denied that warranty claim, I'm responsible for the repair. The dealership was not helpful. In fact, I'll never do business with this dealership ever again!!!

I posted my negative Acura experience on three other Acura owner forums. I do not accept the Acura dealers or Acuras reaction to this issue.

Thoughts???

Default Class Action Lawsuits

After a quick search regarding Honda/Acura exploding sunroofs, I found multiple class action lawsuits for this issue. I'm not a fan of class action lawsuits. However, I'm very disappointed in a local Acura dealer and how they treated me when I had this issue, earlier today.

Anyone else have an adverse/condensending experience with their Acura dealer when their sunroof glass exploded?

Contact American Honda Customer Service and file a complaint, they were of no help to me but I am hoping that if enough people complain perhaps they can resolve this issue. Also file a complaint with NHTSA as this is a definite safety issue. Maybe the government can force a recall.

My dealer referred me to a paint and body shop for the repairs then about a week later asked me to fill out a customer satisfaction survey........unbelievable!!!

This is my third and last Acura.............

The dealer where I purchased our RDX, pretended as if they were unfamiliar with Acura's exploding sunroofs. My experience was complicated as the 2024 RDX I was driving when the sunroof exploded, was a dealer loaner. Before the dealer would release our RDX from their service department, I had to evidence that I'd filed a claim and paid them my policy deductible. It was 6 pm in the evening, yet another challenge. And, to add insult to injury, the dealer charged a 3.5% transaction fee for the repair bill and the policy deductible. The transaction fee is a new dealer policy.
I'm evaluating how public i want to be in sharing my extremely poor Acura and Acura dealer experiences! I've never shared a negative experience on social media. Historically, I take my business elsewhere. But now, I'm considering a more public way of saying "this sucks". It's not about the money, but the terrible experience!!!
