I have a 1990 Acura integra.. and the other day i overheated filled my car up with water then let it sit for about an hour.. after that it was totally fine.. but then i drove it around and the temp gauge would go to its normal temp.. then go down to cold again then back up a lil bit.. its a slow process but I was wondering what this may be????

Does anyone think this could be the temperature Gauge sensor?

What you need to do is get one of the inferred temp gauge. read the temp of the back side of the thermostat
housing and that will tell you how hot the engine really is. we will go from there

 

every time your thermostat opens up it will allow the cold water in your radiator to circulate into the engine. some times this can be seen as a temp drop. (no worries) if it moves alot it can indicate air bubles in the system as well.

when you refilled it did you put in straight water or a water antifreeze mix.

straight watter is better than nothing but it boils fast and will creat steam that causes air bubbles. water mixed with antifreeze not only freezes and a lower temp it also boils at a much higher temp.
