HAPPY NEW YEAR! I recently had a new transmission installed on my 2002 Acura TL, which has approx. 84K miles. Thank GOD for the 100K mile warranty as the replacement did not cost me anything! In addition to the transmission trouble, I was also told that the catalytic converter (CC) had to be replaced, too. Has anyone had to replace a CC? If so, what is the average rate for such work? The Acura dealership quoted a price of $1,300 including labor.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

acura is getting @550 for the cat plus1 hour labor. 1300 is a rip-off! your cat would have been covered up to 80k. you should have asked the dealer to good-will the part being you were so close. they do that for regular customers. this is a very common problem too.
