Hey All,

A friend of mine suggested I check this forum out for some sound advice- I have a 2002 Acura TL that needs a new transmission, the KBB value is lower than the quoted repair - about 2700 for fair condition. Aside from the transmission, the car is in good condition with a spotless interior.

Needless to say I'm not interested in dumping money into this car and am looking to just offload it and pick up something newer, the question is what is a fair value for the 02 with a shot transmission? - the shop owner has expressed interest in buying it, but wants to know what I'm looking for it first. No numbers have been thrown out. 177k miles in the DC suburbs.

Price will vary based on where you live, don't know the DC area. Might check craigslist for comps.

If the 02 TL's are like the 6th gen Accords (98-02) there is an issue with the auto trans. With the proper upgrade, the car and the trans will last a long time......so is the "pain now" worth the monthly payments?
