2004 model timing belt
Anyone hear of such a thing? I replaced the original at 62K and I am now at 96K and while I was driving the timing belt broke. They told me that they would have to replace the timing belt and then called back to tell me that there is damage to the valves and possible damage to your cylinder head and pistons. Cost is estimated at $3,315. I just about died. I wanted to have it towed to the dealership but the towing company convinced me to not charge for towing and take me to this shop. I hate it when they take advantage of women.
The questions I have are:
Does the 2004 Acura MDX have an inteerference motor?
Are the valves really damaged?
Did they have to replace the timing belt to even determine if the motor was damaged?
There is a salvage yard that has a motor with 60K miles on it for $1320 and cost to install would be 1,200. Should I do that or have them rebuild my engine?
Please help anyone!!!!
