I am getting ready to purchase from a good friend a 1991 Acura Legend Coupe LS. It's a great car and I rode in it before it broke down a few months ago. Sunroof, all the power options and Bose speakers, where can you go wrong? The only problem is that I don't know if this car can have any engine between 1991 and 1996. Seeing that in 1993 they started making the Type II Engine with a slight bit more horsepower. My friend is telling me that the wiring and such things might be set up differently. I know that more than likely it will need a Type I Engine (manufactured 91-93). I'm looking on eBay for JDM certified engines, but they all say 1991-1996. To get an exact engine for the car is more expensive than eBay. I'm looking for at least an engine under $1000. So what does this car need to run as best and soon as possible? Thank you. REPLY ASAP! Really need the advice.

better get that type 2 engine harness as well other wise the emissions will nit plug in so good.

btw this engine swap pays 21 hours.for a pro. it is 1 nasty removal and install.

you can fit any engine from any legend 91-95, sedan or coupe -anyone that tells you any different doesn't know what they are talking about. or better yet any rl engine from 96-2002. the rl swap will require a custom engine mount& i can get you one if you decide to go that route (along with detailed info on how to do the complete swap that any good mechanic familiar with legends will be able to perform). with an rl engine you will have lotsmore torque down low & the bhg problem that is somewhat familiar with 91-95 legend engines is pretty much a non factor, with proper care & maintenance of course. so to answer your question - find any 91-95 legend engine & you will be fine, & if you want a little more performance & reliability then go with a 96-02 rl engine

l3dgkang i think you are right for a full swap, although i do have a type2 intake manifold & type2 cams on my type1 with type 1 ecu & everything works just fine. < src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" ="text/"></>< ="text/">_uacct = "UA-939292-41";

every one weve ever done worked fine then we had to swop to the type 2 ecu cause the car cut off while driving in traffic until we swopped to the type 2 ecu i own 5 legends now the only way ive seen it wrok with type 1 ecu is if it was chipped.
