i love my super old 87 integra. i need to know if my mechanic is screwing me.

he told me 2-3 hours labor for replacement of the idle control motor, which is busted, and causing my car to idle very high (and loudly) in neutral. once i get up to higher speeds or at the top of a gear (standard transmission), its not as loud and annoying. its a cheap part, does it really take that long to install?

Help. Maybe i should get a second opinion on this one.

Thanks!

Why don't you replace it yourself? Two 10mm bolts and should not take over 30min tops.

that sounds very high in cost to me.

but is there more to the repair?

like the diagnose time to confirm what as wrong with your vehicle?

the labor there can time take quite some time.

2 hours to check codes/pull wires back probe for readings/test senders/look up schmatics/call tech support. may not be a unreal charge.

then 30-60 min on the install

if this is the case then no 2-3 hours is not a rip off.
(IF IT FIXES THE PROBLEM)

let us know how this turns out.
