What are some basic, simple, beginner mods I can do to this car that will increase horsepower?

Same thing that works for all combustion engines, more air and more fuel.

Air intakes, intake manifolds, larger throttle bodies, headers, exhausts, etc... are all made to help the engine take in and get rid of more air.

Larger carbs, fuel injectors, fuel rails, stronger fuel pumps, etc... these all put more fuel in the engine to make more power.

Start with the easy cheap stuff... air intake, exhaust....
