has anyone had any problems with brake pressure. if i am sitting at light on a hill i notice that i lose some of my brake preesure and i have to let off the brake and reapply to get my pressure back. is this normal for 91 integra or is there something that i need to fix to correct this?

that is a typical sign of a brake master cylinder starting to go bad.

But it could also be a little bit of junk in the calipers.

do or have a brake bleed done then see if your pedal still falls.

im betting you need a brake master cylinder.

thats what i thought was happening. the cylinder is 17 years old so it probably is time to get a new one. also i went and got my car inspected the other day and the car failed because the left rear barke wasnt doing didly sqaut for stoping. coud the cylinder starting to fail be cause for that?

well first thing first.

fix the stuff you know is wrong.
that rear brake not working can give a feeling of a bad brake master cylinder.

it is possiable that both are bad.

but the rear HAS to be fixed it may surprise you and cure all the problems.

what would the lack of breaking be for that corner? I do not think that the caliper is bad because i just replaced both rear calipers about a year ago.

 

is this a ABS car?
also just because its new it doesn't mean its good.
if the brakes at the wheel appear fine it is possiable (unlikely) you have a faulty ABS pump and it is bypassing fluid to 1 or more wheels. it can also make a worn master cylinder effect to your peddels.

if that abs pump has failed you should see a ABS light indicating on the cluster.

If this is not a ABS car then refocus on the caliper do a brake bleed and watch the color of the fluid coming out.Edited by: acuralegend

 

OH 1 last thing....those soft lines between the hard brake line and the caliper need to be watched as some one is stepping on the brakes.

1 little crack on the out side means tons of cracks on the inside.

it is possiable for a line to degrade and crack in such a manor that fluid will no longer pass through.

 

Yes I plan on just going to have them fixed somewhere like MIDAS or something. But I will probably do a brake bleed first and have them checked before I go somewhere. they actually got a littlebetter from last week when the first failed. I didnt do anything to them. at the time my main concern was to get the exhaust to pass which it finnally did yesterday.

I finnally got my brakes to pass inspections. NowI have 2 years before I have go through all the troubles again.

what was it?

a re bleed of the system.
or did it take a componet replacement to pass?
