Replace headlight assembly 2003 TL

Has anyone had success with aftermarket headlight bulb and assembly for
2003 TL? Mine has condensation and low beam does not work. Dealer says
$500 to replace, plus another $500 if igniter is bad. $1,000 for a headlight?
Car has only 50,000 miles, always garaged.
This must be the worst case of over engineering / highway robbery yet. I
may duct tape a flashlight to my hood instead.
I miss the $9 Autozone bulb in my 93 Volvo. Help/ suggestions appreciated.
