hey guys, I have a 01 GSR, and I was wondering what you guys would do if you had a change to build a motor to put into it. I just dont want my c1 thats in it anymore(I want to build that one up once I get it out, and make it a back up). But I was just wondering what you guys would do. I have heard alot with LS-vtech, and b16, and c5, I was looking about 240-300hp, I have a NOS kit with a dry shot that will be installed. so really just let me know. thanks alot guys.

if an ls-vtec is done right, they are perfect. If not done right, they leak like crazy. You can get an ls block dirt cheap and bolt a type r (b18c5) head on it. the ls motor actually has more displacement than the type R (not much but every little bit helps). I read an article about an ls vtec (type r head). They tuned the ecu and put down 220 hp to the wheels. In the past I have found b18c5 heads on ebay for as little as $400.00. I have gone to alot of junk yards here in st. louis and found a ton of ls motors. Average price is $75.00 for the motor. Under $500 you can have a screamer. If you really wanted to go crazy on the HP, The ls motor has lower compression than the type R and is perfect for turbo. I think you can safely run 14 psi and that = a lot of extra power. Just remember, even if you just do an ls vtec, your gunna want to get a LSD tranny or you'll never hook up. Hope this helped.
