I want to know if it is possible to convert a direct injection diesel engine to an EFI turbo diesel engine...

I am considering to buy a rugged 4x4 preferably G-Class or LR Defender, usually these 4x4s came with a direct injection engine.

I would not want to throw in a Japaniese engine in a europian vehicle... thats why I want to know if it possilbe to increase the performance and fuel efficiency of a stock engines of these 4x4s.

 

....you don't have enough knowledge, money or time to successfully complete this conversion. I suspect that the manufacturer would be hard pressed to succeed at this. Better to find the engine you want and put it into the vehicle. There will still be challenges, but they will be much more apparent than the challenges you'd have with the diesel to EFI conversion.
