brakes and rotors

replacing brakes and rotors on my 2002 TL. Do I need to remove the spindle nut to remove the rotors? If so any tips to easy removal and the appropriate size socket that I need

the spindle nut is a 36mm, but u dont have to take it off, take off ur caliper 17mm (14mm for the pads) then the rotor slides right off, there might be two philips screws holding the rotor on.
