Anyone ever experience a discolored headlight ?


I have a 99 CL and the headlight recentlydeveloped a yellowish color.


Help.

You could get some 2500 wet sanding paper from your local automotive paint store and sand them with the paper and water and then polish them by hand with some light rubbing compound.

there is something that is soft and will not scratch your lenses that you can buy at your local parts store that is made specifically for cleaning and polishing headlights. it goes on the end of your drill and does not scratch anything and removes it as quick as you see it. I used it on my 97 cl and it worked miracles

 

I believe the product you are talking about is called Bright Lights or Kleen Lights. It had a similar kit that uses a power drill with various pad attachments. We used to sell it as part of a promotion but I don't know where its availible anymore. [img]smileys/smiley6.gif[/img] In any case, whatever you end up using, make sure it has no abrasives at all. Even really fine sandpaper will fog clear plastic. Maybe not the first time, but eventually.

ive always wet sanded with 2000 grit and hit em with a high speed polisher and some 3m rubbing compound

 

You can clean headlights with mothers metal polish... worked for some of my older cars

 

this is effective,.

 

Thank you for your advice, but it appears that the discolorationis on the insidenot the outside (water/moisture got inside the light...?).


Besides replacing thelamp assembly, is there an easierinexpensive fix ?

urchinTracker();</>how bout taking off the headlights and cleaning the inside with a vibrating power sander. it just might do the trick. btw, use 1500 grit wet sand paper. kinda late reply here so it'll be for those who will drop by with the same problem or just about anybody having problem with any auto parts.
