ticking while driving??
#1
just got a 97 3.0 CL and i am hearing a ticking noise more and more the faster i go. this isnt the CV joint/boot cause it doesnt click when i turn. its just when i am going straight.
tick tick tick as i drive and stops at a red light.
also, my speedometer jumps 20mph every so often and the guy at the mechanic shop said it might be the speedometer cable and i am not sure if thats what the ticking is coming from. he said it might be. true???
i am a new member here aswell with another forum and nobody replys to my threads there. not sure if its the forum or what, but i have posted many threads.....
all advice is appreciated....

m pretty sure you dont have a speedo cable
roll down the windows and try to figure out if its a inside or outside noise.
it very well could be your cluster assembly thats ticking.
also a rock stuck in a brake rotor vent can tick
twine wrapped up on a axle
nail in a tire
antenna motor that wont stop running
fuel purge solinoid no longer on its mount can tick too.
i have had NEW axle assemblys tick for a bit, and same with worn wheel bearings
