Two days ago I drove to a friend's place in my 97 Acura CL to walk our dogs. We returned about an hour later at which point I discovered that the cooling fan was on. To make a long story short, I drove the car home and disconnected the battery. After sitting all night I reconnected the battery and the fan immediately came on so overheating was not the problem. I hadn't started the car. I took it to a local car handy guy who let it sit all night and when he connected the battery in the morning, both the cooling and air conditioning fans came on although the latter turned off a few minutes later. Does anyone out there have any idea what the problem might be?

Turns out the problem was a relay. There are two relays that are the same, one for the cooling fan and one for the air conditioning fan. I switched them and the cooling fan then worked normally. A new relay in Canada is $46 plus tax so it's a cheap fix. The relays are located in the same place as the fuses.

I checked the net and if I found the right relay it's almost half the price on Rockauto.com compared to the local dealership here.

I might as well get it from the Honda dealer in Kingston Ontario. At least I know I'll get the right part and no possible hassles with Canada Customs and shipping costs. It'd be just my luck that the one I'd buy on the net would almost the right one. By the way, I like your freaking out mouse.
