BRAKE LIGHT COMING ON BUT BRAKES ARE OKAY
#1
Hello,
I have a 1999 Acura CL with 59000 miles on it.
It runs great but lately I have noticed the BRAKE light coming on and staying on until the car runs for awhile and then going off. I took itto my mechanic and he said my brakes are good for another 15,000 miles. He also checked the brake fluid and it was okay..
Any thoughts ?

My 99 Acura 3.0 CLis doing exactly the same thing and it's got 185,000 miles on it. Sometimes the brake indicator comes on when I start the car. After I drive it for a while, it goes off.
The brakes pads are fine. The brake fluid is full and there are no leaks in the brake lines. There is no obvious problem with the brakes.
My guess is that it's a faulty sensor. I can't find any troubleshooting tips in the manual. It's mildly annoying but as long as it's not life-threatening, I'll live with a bad sensor because I think that's what it is. Maybe if I ever find a good independent Acura mechanic, I'll ask him about it.

I'm not too familiar with the braking systems on this vehicle, the only other thing i can think of that neither of you mentioned would be a parking brake that is stuck on, or the sensor itself thinks its stuck on.
