New Member, Potential New Acura Owner
Alright guys, first of all I'd just like to say hi. I'm on a ton of other forums so I figured since I'm interested in purchasing an Acura, I figured I'd join the Acura forum!
Alright, little background. I'm a college grad with a JOB!!!! YEA! I'm one of the lucky ones! But anyway, I've got a 1999 Honda Accord 4cyl with 202k miles on it. The timing belt service is supposed to be at 210-215k miles and that's a $1k repair. The car has served me well and I'm in the position, or will be soon, to purchase a new car. Right now I'm looking at the Acura TL 2.4 or TSX. I want a 4cyl car for 1. Gas mileage, and 2. maintenance. My dad's accord is a 4cyl and the newer generation engines don't ever require a timing belt change, which is huge, saved $1k every 100k miles.
My price range is around $16-$19k. I'm looking for a used car around 50k miles on it. I commute about 17miles 1 way to work every day so I need a reliable car that can take high miles. I know Acura is a Honda product so I know it will be a great quality product and easy on the wallet for maintenance.
I've got a few q's. First, how are the TL's and TSX's maintenance wise? Is there one better than the other? 2nd, why is it when I search for either the TL or TSX, I'm only finding people selling the TSX and no TL's? Is the TL that much better of a car that people just hold on to them? What's the major difference between the two models?
Thanks guys! Hopefully I can get some good information on some Acura owners and get some first hand advice before I make my purchase.
