I have a 2006 TL and the paint is kinda chipping off in different spots all over the hood, roof, and trunk. The dealer is tellling me it is from Bird crap or tree sap, but the car is less then a year old and only has 5000 miles on it. It was recently at the same dealership for a mini-detail and they said nothing to me about it. Any help would be great.

i would check with another dealership, as this is a load of crap.





ive heard MANY instances where the car simply wasnt painted correctly, and the paint came off easily.

I would agree, the paint on TLs is pretty top knotch, plus with having three layers of paint plus two clear coats, it sounds like something more serious than just birds or tree sap

This is obviously an adhesion problem straight from the factory. Any number of factors could have caused this. In any case, the solution is the same; sand till it stops chipping and you have a smooth surface, etch-prime the area if it went to bare metal, paint the area, and then clear it.
