thinking new strut

the ride quality has been diminishing slightly over the past couple of weeks, could this be that my struts are going bad? i feel like i bounce a little too much but also that when i go over bumps they do make some noise. any recommendations for replacements? nothing to extravagant. something good that'll last a while.

Remind me again of year and mileage of your car.....

If you have a bit too much bounce, it very likely is your shocks (dampers). However the noise could be from worn suspension bits or even the shock bearing in the top of the MacPherson strut.

Personally, I like Bilstein shocks, but any reputable brand should work fine and last plenty long. Especially if you are not tracking or autocrossing your car.

Koni's is my recommendation. Bilsteins tend to be overdamped in the bound so they are a little harsher than stock. Koni's are adjustable and a lot of people compliment that they control the stock springs even better.

Koni and Tokiko come to mind as good units to install...

the car has almost 300,000 miles and drives like a champion. outside of the current ride quality but that is a new issue. just put new brakes pads and rotors. also i just found out this morning that when i took the car to get the wheels balanced i don't know what they did but the front passenger and rear driver tires were over inflated and the other two were under. after i fixed that it improved, just the noise over bumps is what i am getting. Also im changing the lower ball joint on driver side front.

Bilsteins are good too, but they tend to be a little stiffer.
