Hi I have a 99 TL and noticed lately that the steering wheel shakes when I'm slowing down on the freeway. I'm due for a brake job soon and was wondering if the problem is caused by old rotors or is it an alighnment problem? There's no noise coming from the brakes but at the last inspection, the mechanic said I had 10% left on the pads. Lastly can anyone recommend some decent pads? Thanks.

Hey there,

I have an 02 TL and have the same problem when I slow down, the steering wheel vibrates. I have had my brakes changed and that did not solve the problem. If you reach a solution, let me know.

Autozone sells a good pad made from Ceramic whic will leave less brake dust for you!

This is a very typical sign of worn-out brakes.

You can either get your rotors resurfaced or preferably get them replaced. Autozone and O'Reily sell them fairly cheap.

If you can replace them yourself, or if you have mechanic who could replace them for you (even though you bought them from Autozone) that would be the cheapest solution. Or if you don't want to go through the hassle and don't mind paying money, just take it to any mechnic and they should be able to get it fixed for you. Should not cost you more than $300.

Thanks.
