Cracked fog light

Ok so I got my HFL code reset today at the dealer but they pointed out that my fog light has a hole in the glass which annoys me because I just bought the car . They say its about $360 just for the part but the service advisor recommended jsut putting something over it to keep it from getting water inside of it. Has anyone else had this problem? In my head I'm thinking s circular piece of plexi glass super glued over it :)

I have an 02 TLS and its lowered a little. It must have changed the geometry and aerodynamics, because I was busting a fog lamp every few months or so (probably from a rock on the freeway). I replaced two of them and then I go the idea to get that heavy clear film that you can place over headlights to protect them. I did that and it's been at least 6 years and not one problem. Stuff works great

Leeper..what was the brand name of that film you put over your fog light?

Hey WheelBroker, I can't remember where I bought it, and I could not find the receipt, but I took the information from the package and it is as follows: It's a 3M product and it is sold by X-PEL Technologies. Their part number is H9906 and there is an additional number CX05032842. I looked on X-PEL's website and they list H9906 as sold by the square inch. I bought 2 sheets each one foot square. Their website notes that it is 30mil, but my label claims 40mil. It's called headlight protection film. There is a phone number on my label 800-752-6268. I made a template out of paper and then cut the film to fit. It cuts fairly easily with scissors. The stuff is great and if you apply it right, there are no bubbles and you cannot tell it is there. I have had it on the car for at least 5 years, possibly 7 and there is NO yellowing or change since the day I installed it.

Good hunting.

Mike

I have a 2013 tl and had the same problem. I was Afraid to wash it and get water in there. their are lenses for 16.00 bucks that you can put over it. They come in blue, yellow, clear, smoke color. The dealer charges to much to replace about 300.00. I went to a mechanic that i know and had it replaced for about 140.00. Just love it. looks so much better. They had to take the wheel off and go through there. He told me it was an easy job about 30 minutes. The dealer makes you think is complicated and hard to do.
