Hi I'm new to this... I have an 1999 Acura Tl 3.2 and my check engine light has been on for about a year. Last year I took it to get inspected at a garage and they told me it was an oxygen sensor. I replaced it and drove for a bout 100 miles and sice then it is still on. Now it's due for inspection again and I'm not sure what to do. I really don't want to get ripped off by the garage by them telling me it's one thing and I spend money on buying the part and here it still exsist. What should I do and can anyone help me solve this problem. You response is greatly appreciated.[img]smileys/smiley2.gif[/img]

Most places like auto zone,checkers,shucks,napa,pep boys,advanced auto ect. will scan your car for free and tell you what sensor it tripping the check engine light. So after they replaced the O2 sensor the light remained on? or did it come back on after several driving sessions. When an O2 sensor goes bad your gas mileage goes WAY down. How's yours? Go get your car scanned and let us know what the code or bad part is and we can probibly help you do it yourself and save some money in the process.

when the oxy sender was installed it was because of a oxy code. those codes reffer to the system not just a componet.
if that wiring or computer prosses is bad it wont matter how many sensors you put in it. it will always code.

when a componet is replaced a code reset needs to be performed then the vehicle needs to be driven to make sure the repair was accurate. (there is more than 1 oxygen sensor on your car, did the correct 1 get replaced?)

if it was a rear sensor and it was left defective for too long it can damage a catalytic converter and that may be a new code.

so yes go get it reread and post us the codes when you get results.

The reason I changed the oxygen sensor was because the code came up.I replaced the part and was told to drive for another 50 miles to see if it comes up again andit did. I don't want to keep replacing things thatdon't need fixing. I wish they can just pin point the problem and fix it. As far as my gas mileagegoes, I really haven't noticed ifI am burning thru gas.Iam going to AutoZone andgetting it scanned again to see what the code was. I will get back toeveryone on this. thanks so much
