ACURA TL

MY SON RAN OUT OF GAS IN HIS 1996 TL. NOW THE CAR WILL NOT RUN. I HERE THE FUEL PUMP WHEN I TURN THE SWITCH ON. BUT WHEN I REMOVE THE GAS CAP, THERE IS NO PRESURE TO BE RELEASED. I HAVE TAKEN THE GAS LINE OFF BOTH BEFORE AND AFTER THE FUEL FILTER. BOTH TIMES TURN THE SWITCH ON WITH THE GAS LINE REMOVED, I GET A "WEAK STREAM" OF FUEL FROM IT. SHOULD THE GAS SQUIRT OUT OF THE LINE OR FILTER?(MORE THAN 5 TO 7 INCHES) PLEASE HELP....ANYONE. YES, I DID PUT GAS IN IT..

Just a guess. When he ran out of gas the fuel pump sucked up all the dirt and metal in the bottom of the tank. This either clogged or ruined the fuel pump. Do a fuelpump pressuretest asoutlined in your Haines manual. I don't know about the strength of the stream. One time I turned over my car with the spark plugs removed to clear the cylinders because I had flooded them. The gas shot up and splattered against the bottom of the hood. Then thegas fell back down on the plug wires, Igniting my whole engine bay in a huge fireball! It was dark out so the fireball wasREALLY empressive. PLEASEbe careful when you disconnect the fuel lines in a fuel injected car. Good luck!
