I picked up a 97RL for a great deal (1000.00). It has about 200k on it, It runs perfect, looks amazing (purple), the interior is in great shape, and it's 100% stock. I have 3 issues, one is the ABS light is on, two is the rear windows don't work, and 3 is there is a speed sensitive noise.

The noise starts about 15 mph, and runs up all the way to highway speeds, and probably beyond. It sounds like something shaking, rut has nothing to do with RPM. It sounds like it could be something in the breaks, but when i examined the breaks they looked fine (pads are more than half there, and rotors don't have any unusual wear on them). Is this something common, or am I a test subject so to speak.

Thanks in advance
Dan.

OK, for ABS system, please check your brake pads..make sure it is good. the rear windows don't work, it could be fuses or power window motor.

The rear window problem could be the regulators. They often fail on early RLs...

yes check all..and update us when problem fixed.

The rear windows are the regulators, still can't figure out the noise, and have not looked at the ABS yet.

I think the noise is in the trans. I drove it backwards down the lot at my shop, fairly fast, and it did not make any noise in reverse.

I'd have the tranny serviced: fluid, filter, etc. If it goes, it would cost more than you paid for the car to replace the tranny...

Well had the tranny checked, and I was dead wrong. It's not the trans (thank god). looks like it's the left rear wheel bearing. Now i just need to figure out the ABS bit, new tires, good buffing, and drive it till it dies.
