I just bought a 1997 Acura RL 3.5 for my son. Wouldn't you know, two days after the purchase the door locks start cycling. As I drive, with the doors locked, they periodically lock again and again. Any ideas what the issue might be?

My RL does this occasionally. It seems when I lube the actuator, that it helps some. Also, when I lock the door by pushing the actuator down instead of using the keyless entry remote, that it does it less. If you figure out the cause, please post it, as I have looked for it for a few years now. My '97 RL has about 302,000 miles on it

The only thing that will fix this thing is a new drivers door lock actuator. Iv'e replaced many for this. Good luck.

good call gijoe
yup the sensor inside the switch (the not servisable seperate one)
goes bad and then the car thinks you havent locked the door. so it does it again and again and again.

it also indicates wear on that latch assembly and it should be replaced befor it breaks

IF IT BREAKS you will be buying a new inner door pannel and maybe a new window depending on how hard the door is to get open after the latch fails and wont let it open.

civics are the worst at doing this.
