I have an 07 RL with the PAX tires and I want to know what is different about the car compared to a standard RL. Acura acts as if the PAX tires make the cara completly different model. No one will say why the car is different. What will it take to take these PAX wheels off of the car and replace them with either standard RL wheels and tires or aftermarket wheels and tires. I got a quote of $1,800.00 to replace the tires. That is crazy. There has got to be a better way.

PAX RL's have run-flat tires.
They are very expensive in part costs.
On top of that you have to have a specific machine to change them.
And furthermore you have to be certified to change run-flat tires.

I drove a PAX RL with a flat tire WITH ZERO PRESSURE in the tire about 2 miles. It was nerve racking, but they worked.

Heh, the reason I had to drive it two miles was our Acura dealership is not certified to change them. We had to drive it down to a honda dealer down the road that does them for a whole bunch of dealerships, in order to change a customer's tire.

Under "2007 RL" there is a chart that shows what was included with the PAX RL.

I guess if you wanted to you could replace the wheels ... but that seems like it would defeat the purpose of having the top of the line PAX RL
