RDX 2008 manual hatch release

Hi, the hatch switch on my 2008 RDX doesn't work 100 percent of the time. Today is one of the locked days which is frustrating. There is usually a way to release manually from inside the hatch door panel, but I don't see anything on the locking mechanism like a lever. There is a small access panel but I can't find info online for this model. Help ;)

manual tailgate release

Try page 126 from the manual at 2008 RDX manual. Since this seems to happen frequently, you might want to explore cleaning and lubrication of the latch.

Check the thread at Trunk/Tailgate Will Not Open. Any Help Appreciated and see if it is any help. I do suggest you review the entire thread as several possibilities are mentioned. How to access the panel should you need to replace the actuator is near the bottom.

Good luck.

Hatch

I have a 2007 RDX Tech Package.

The only way I know of to open the back hatch door is to unlock all doors via the remote key fob (or the unlock switch in the front door panel), then go to the back of the car and press the button outside the hatch just above the license plate and lift up the hatch. On my RDX I sometimes have to press this twice before it works.

I know of no other method to open the hatch—mechanical or otherwise. The lack of a remote rear hatch opener has always seemed a curious omission from an otherwise full array of convenience features.

Despite its voracious thirst for gasoline and coal-cart-like suspension, I do love this little truck.

Do you have a remote key fob that has a rear hatch opener?
