Acura dealer strikes again!!
 

McDaniel's Acura in Columbia, South Carolina will rip you off in a heartbeat! They ripped me off by refusing to help with the labor part of my bill for a new part they installed that failed after only 16,000 miles! It happened to be the hydraulic tensioner that keeps the timing belt taught. Putting it back together they used a non-factory bolt to attach the tensioner to the block and in doing so stripped the threads in the block. They also somehow managed to strip out the threads in one of the 2 holes in the motor mount base mounted to the frame just below the power steering pump. They bottomed out 1 of the bolts that holds the top half of the mount to the block and broke it off in the aluminum block. Because of the proximity of that hole to the frame, there is not room to get an angle drill in that space and even drill it for an easy out! Only option for fixing is to drop engine in the cradle from car and drill it then, which I did not opt for. Just had it JB Welded in the hole, which will need to be done again in another 60,000 miles.The other shop that serviced it for me, did the complete 60,000 mile timing belt service. Called Acura complaint line and they also said too bad, you were out of the warranty period, we can do nothing for you! If my car had 25,000 miles on it and the tensioner failed they would fix it, but because it has 255,000 on it and they fixed it, now they say too bad. So, now I have paid McDaniel's $1,516.00 to fix my tensioner in December 2015 and just replaced it again March 30, 2016 to the tune of $1,001.00.....
