05 MDX - spark plug cracked - now in engine
 

Hi , I'm a brand new member and i was hoping for some advice. Last week my MDX, began to lose power and there was a metal sound coming from the engine. I got it to my delaer, they finally diagnosed the problem as the ignition coil fried, which caused the spark plug to break up and the back end fell into the onto the piston, causing damage. This is so bizarre, has anyone ever heard of this happening before. Delaer says the compression is no good and need to replace the entire engine block and heads for $8,800.

The car has 70K miles, and or course no extended warranty. I guess i am going to look into getting the cylinder bored out and rebuilt. Does anyone know a good engine guy in the Westchester NY area?

Any suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

Im sorry that happen'd to you, Ive seen the damage that can do to an engine, and yes more than a 1/2 dozen times...
