i just bought a 91 legend, and it has 85k miles, automatic.i have noticed the car wants to take off in 3rd?,and if manually shifted down into 1st,i think its taking off into 2nd,and if shifted into 3 or 4 it seem to go into 3rd. it always takes off in 3 if selector is in 3 or 4th.any ideas??? i really dont want to redo the trans.thanks, mike at imfixinmopars@hotmail.com

i think you must change the oil transmission. before you fill the new one you must empty the tank first. good luck

do you have a red flashing transmission light on the dash?

does the shifter position indicator show you in the current and correct gear?

it could be a bad shifter switch.
Also check all them silly fuses.hate to burn a tranny because of a 10 cent fuse

blinking D4 means there is a transmission code.

if your speedo is dropping out the the tranz comp is unable to see how fast you are going and may not give propper pressures to the clutches during a shift.

ignoring a blinking D4 will WILL burn that transmission up.

That's usually a problem with the VSS(vehicle speed sensor)

i'd say check your fliud you many need to have your trans flushed as the old fliud could be burnt. Ive flushed my trans on all 5 of my legends and i seems to make them last longer. im also ASE certified.Edited by: L3GDKANG/JDM-KA
